The European Commission on Wednesday said it had accepted commitments made by Alibaba‘s AliExpress to address concerns over the dissemination of potentially illegal and pornographic materials through its platform.

A major global e-commerce player in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle sectors, AliExpress is under increasing regulatory scrutiny in Europe as platforms face new responsibilities under the Digital Services Act.
The Commission said it had made binding a series of “wide-ranging commitments” that address concerns related to the platform’s systems for monitoring and detecting illegal products, such as medicines, food supplements, and adult material.
The commitments also cover AliExpress’ mechanism to note and flag illegal products and its internal complaint system.
